Three types of Chiropractic care:
Initial Acute Care:
Initial Acute Care is for pain or symptom management. Most new patients want to feel better, so, in the beginning, chiropractic visits are usually frequent involving adjustments and may be combined with other procedures to help relieve your symptoms. Depending upon your age, condition, and lifestyle, repeated visits over weeks or months may be needed to reduce your symptoms.
Rehabilitative or Supportive Care:
Rehabilitative or Supportive Care is for improved function and spinal changes. With pain being reduced, Rehabilitative Care is for more complete healing to occur. Underlying muscle and soft tissue damage can still remain, even if the patient feels better. Visits frequency is often reduced, but the patient is encouraged to introduce their care with exercises, dietary changes, or other self-care procedures. Without this type of care, the patient can set the stage for a relapse.
Wellness or Preventative Care:
Wellness or Preventative Care is for non-symptomatic or preventatvie care. After a patient has recovered from their original problem, regular chiropractic "checkups" can help maintain progress. Periodic visits can help catch little problems before they become major concerns. Wellness minded patients want this type of care so he/she can feel their best. A wellness lifestyle, involving Chiropractic care can save time and money by helping the individual stay well.
Many patients continue with regular chiropractic appointments to maintain their progress. How you decide to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you.
