What should I expect on the first visit?
First, the cause of your condition will be determined with a series of complete examinations including, physical, orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic tests.
Dr. Fabry will explain your diagnosis and decide whether or not X-rays are necessary before
treatment. Once that is complete, she will then determine an appropriate treatment plan. This treatment plan will include
services ranging from an adjustment to physio-therapy to learning corrective exercises. Physio-therapy includes, Electrical Muscle Stimulation, Ultrasound, and the application of a heat pack or cold pack, depending on the patient's condition. Next, a gentle manipulation, or "adjustment," to the spinal region and/or extremities will be performed. The
technique performed will depend on the patient's history and diagnosis. When an adjustment takes place a "popping" sound will most likely occur. This sound is the release of a gas bubble between the joints. Its caused by the change of pressure within the joint with minimal, if any, discomfort involved. Finally, our Exercise Physiologist will show you corrective exercises/stretches for the spine and surrounding muscles by using
exercise balls and flexbands to help stabilize your muscles and correct your posture. Also, passive stretching and/or proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching may be introduced to help with a patient's condition. Depending on the condition of the patient, the order of treatment may be altered to better the patient's needs.
What conditions do you treat?
At our office, we care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. We help many patients with back pain, neck pain, and headaches, as well as patients with a variety of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. These painful conditions often involve or interfer with the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. The benefits of chiropractic care extend to general health issues since our body structure affects overall function.
Can my child benefit from chiropractic care?
Yes. Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls from activities of daily living, as well as from participating in sports. Dr. Fabry specifies her treatment to the individual patient. It is a highly skilled treatment and very gentle.
What are the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy?
During pregnancy, there are several changes that occur in preparation for creating the environment for the developing baby. Some of the changes that occur, such as protruding abdomen and increased back curve, pelvic changes, and postural adaptations, could result in a misaligned spine or joints. Potential benefits include: maintaining a healthier pregnancy, controlling nausea, reducing the time of labor and delivery, relieving back, neck or joint pain, and prevent a potential cesarean delivery. Dr. Fabry is certified in Webster Technique that is specific for pregnant women. The exercise physiologist will also provide you with exercises and stretches that are safe to use during pregnancy.
Does my insurance cover chiropractic? Do I need a referral from my M.D.?
Yes. Chiropractic care is included in most health insurance plans. We accept most insurances, and Dr. Fabry is a participating provider with Medicare.
A referral is usually not needed; however, your health plan may have specific referral requirements.
Please feel free to call the office and ask about your specific insurance plan.
